Best MCAT Practice Tests (2025): Free & Paid Ranked

The Golden Rule of Practice Tests

Not all practice tests are created equal.

The MCAT is a standardized test with a very specific “logic.” The only company that perfectly replicates this logic is the AAMC (the test maker). Every third-party company (Blueprint, Kaplan, etc.) is just an imitation.

Here is the hierarchy of practice tests you should follow.

Tier 1: The Gold Standard (AAMC)

You must take all of these. Do not take the real exam until you have completed every single one.

  • AAMC Free Practice Exam (Scored): Released recently, this is the most accurate predictor of your current score.
  • AAMC Practice Exam 1, 2, 3, 4: The classic full-length exams.
  • AAMC Sample Test (Unscored): Good for practice, but you have to use a converter to estimate your score.

Tier 2: The Best Imitations (Blueprint & Altius)

If you need more practice (and you will), these are the closest to the real thing.

  • Blueprint (Next Step): widely considered the most representative third-party exams. The interface is perfect, and the scoring curve is fair.
    • Free: They offer a free half-length diagnostic and one free full-length exam.
  • Altius: Excellent for experimental passages, especially in Bio/Biochem. Their interface is a bit dated, but the questions are high-quality.

Tier 3: The “Deflated” Giants (Kaplan & Princeton Review)

These tests are good for building stamina, but do not trust the score.

  • Kaplan: Known for being “deflated.” If you score a 500 on Kaplan, you might be at a 505 on AAMC. They test specific content details more than critical thinking.
  • Princeton Review: Known for being brutally hard. They are great for finding your content gaps, but they can destroy your confidence if you take them too close to test day.
  1. Diagnostic: Take the Blueprint Half-Length Diagnostic (Free) to see where you start.
  2. Phase 2 (Practice): Use Blueprint Full-Lengths 1-4 to build stamina.
  3. Phase 3 (AAMC Mode): In the final 6 weeks, switch exclusively to AAMC Full-Lengths. Take one every Saturday.
